I wont be a complete ass tonight, because I was very impressed by the character of this Red Wings team. They had an answer for every goal the Ducks scored, except the last one of course. They took the pounding and even handed some of it out as well. But that doesn’t really matter right now, the series is tied and it’s time to come back to some nice weather. The Wings know that this one slipped away, the look on their faces when they went to the locker room summed it up. I know this is the most biblical Red Wings team in recent memory according all the online fans and I don’t know what I am talking about when it comes to the team, blah blah blah. Let us see what they come with on Tuesday after losing in OT.
As for the Ducks play, what can you say. They played physical, they played fast but they were not that sharp. I don’t have enough fingers to count the turnovers or bad passes they made. That isn’t normal, one thing Anaheim does well is pass, especially the outlet pass, they looked like crap. But they won the game without on of their best forecheckers and more responsible forwards. So it should be a great game three, hopefully the crowd can ignore their cell phones long enough to cheer for the team without needing the “LETS GET LOUD” graphic.
I wont pick scores anymore, at least not to where a team wins by more then one goal, because that probably wont happen.

I said after game one reading the stat sheet that if Detroit was going to let Anaheim out-shoot, out-hustle, and out-play them, then the series would take a drastic turn towards the Ducks side. Then in this game 2, the Ducks don’t play as well as they did in game 1 and still manage to come out with a win. That tells me a lot about this Ducks team. I love it when Detroit fans think that by beating San Jose that means they are automatically guaranteed to beat the Ducks, last I checked, the Ducks are the #2 seed in the Western Conference, ahead of the San Jose Sharks, which if I recall means they are a better team than the Sharks. I said it after Vancouver beat Dallas and then after Detroit beat San Jose, congratulations on winning your series, your reward….Anaheim. Detroit is a great team do not get me wrong, Hasek looks like he did when he was in his prime and the “old guys” are playing with guts and determination, but Anaheim is just too much of a force for those guys to deal with game after game. Feel free to trash me Red Wings fans, but ever since these playoffs started the same media you say is calling Detroit the “old and feeble team” has trashed Anaheim, or ignored them all together. How many games have the Ducks lost this post-season…2, going through a much weaker (but don’t tell the “experts” on ESPN.com) Minnesota Wild team, then going through the media darling Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks in 5 games, they get a Detroit team that had to grind out two 6 games series with Calgary and San Jose. There cannot be anything left in the tank for a long series with a much more brutal team like Anaheim.
“I love it when Detroit fans think that by beating San Jose that means they are automatically guaranteed to beat the Ducks, last I checked, the Ducks are the #2 seed in the Western Conference, ahead of the San Jose Sharks, which if I recall means they are a better team than the Sharks.”
First off, nobody said anything about automatically beating the Ducks. What’s with all the Ducks fans arguing against things nobody ever said?
Secondly, seeding doesn’t prove who is better than anyone else. This was, ahem, pointed out by a Ducks fan at Abel to Yzerman. Of course, then he went on to make the same point you just made and thoroughly contradicted himself.
Lastly…”Anaheim is just too much of a force for those guys to deal with game after game”
That’s exactly what everyone said about Calgary. Then San Jose. Drop this tired schtick.
“There cannot be anything left in the tank for a long series with a much more brutal team like Anaheim.”
Um, Detroit outhit both Calgary and San Jose. They have plenty in the tank. They are not old. They are not as small as people make them out to be. And as any long-time hockey fan knows (and Wings fans especially know, a la 1995) having easy playoff series and not facing any adversity (there’s that word again) can actually work against you.
We all have the same arguments here, that’s fine. Detroit has faced adversity, ok fine. Anaheim played ‘weak’ opponents, fine. My thought going in was it would be Anaheim vs. San Jose, I thought they were the two best teams. Better teams win a seven game series, so Detroit was better. Daniel P. seems like he was pointing out this isn’t Calgary or San Jose, to which he is right. If you are thinking that Anaheim isn’t superior then both of those teams, then so be it, but they are. The better team will win this series, we just so happen to think the better team resides in Orange County. Opinions, that’s all. We are not the extra man on the attack, we don’t affect the outcome of the game.
How do you like us now? I think you just got beat like a litle stepchild. Hope your goon gets a game suspension. Talk to you soon!
Go wings!
Scott
Hope the better team shows up on Thursday.
Go Wings
“Hope the better team shows up on Thursday.”
Well you would hope so after a showing like that wouldn’t you? No excuse, the Wings took it too them and won in embarrassing fashion.
“How do you like us now? I think you just got beat like a litle stepchild. Hope your goon gets a game suspension. Talk to you soon!’
And you played on what line Scott? The Red Wings won dude, you sat on your couch and cheered.
The ducks got a major butt kicking and had to resort to goon tactics. If the NHL has any guts (doubtful) both Pronger and Niedermayer will get 3 game suspensions each. There is no way to defend those two - it was a blatant attempt to injure. Holmstrom could easily been knocked out of the remainder of the playoffs with a concussion from what was a major cheap shot. It was a disgraceful exhibit by two cowards. Then to watch the baby Pronger whine later over a penalty? What an idiot! He should be fined and suspended and damn lucky he isn’t in jail.
I never did like him, funny how I felt sorry for him when he took the puck to the heart a few years back. Now I recognize him for the goon he is.
“And you played on what line Scott? The Red Wings won dude, you sat on your couch and cheered.”
LMFAO. I always love this lame retort. Fans call their teams “we” all the time, in every sport. Fans identify with the team, and the players. By the way, the players when talking about “the team and the fans and the city” also use the term “we”. So go ahead and criticize them, too, to be consistent. After all, they can’t be a part of “we fans” because they played the game instead of sitting on their couch watching it.
Some of Daniel’s recent observations:
“Holmstrom can not take all that beating himself.”
Wrong…
“How the hell is Hasek going to not start taking penalties for getting run so much.”
Wrong…
“Red Wings fans, if you think nothing is wrong and all is well, you are living in a bubble.”
Wrong…
“Anaheim is just too much of a force for those guys to deal with game after game.
There cannot be anything left in the tank for a long series with a much more brutal team like Anaheim.”
Wrong…
“I wont pick scores anymore, at least not to where a team wins by more then one goal, because that probably wont happen.”
How does a final score of five-to-gah strike you, Sparky?
And finally:
“Let us see what they come with on Tuesday after losing in OT.”
Pw3nd…
Any questions?
I never said that I played on the team. I am always a big fan of trying to embarass the emailer by saying he thinks he is one of them. The red wings sure played a great game and like the sharks and flames once “we” start winning the game, the other teams resort to goon mode and were gonna knock you out of the playoffs. Keep running around head hunting and well keep on scoring goals. Remember its the first team to 4 wins. We have to win 2 more and you have to win three. Oh yeah and you have to win one game without your best defenseman. GO WINGS!!!!!
